The PE Playbook – June 2017 Edition

Welcome to the June 2017 Edition of the PE Playbook. The PE Playbook is a review of blog posts over the past month that are specific to Physical Education or Youth Sport. Its about bringing these blog posts into a format that is easy to find, use and share. Hopefully this will result in more PE Teachers (and others) reading them and engaging with them. If you have any feedback about the presentation or content of the PE Playbook then please let me know in the comments section of this post or via @ImSporticusPrevious Editions of the PE Playbook can be found here.

Blogger of the Month

Dr Justen O’Connor is a researcher in Health and PE, Sport and Physical Activity at Monash University in Australia. He blogs at Health Physical Education and utilises systems thinking, social ecology and strengths-based approaches to explore curriculum and pedoagogy associated with health, physical education, sport and lifetime physical activity. I enjoy his writing as he always challenges norms and dogma within PE such as asking why do an all school cross country run and why he doesn’t like fitness testing within schools? This month he has turned his attention to both differentiation within PE and Times when you wont hit a 50% physical activity target in a PE class. This month I discovered that Justin is blogging about assessment in PE at AssessmentHPE There are currently seven posts which I thoroughly recommend to all PE teachers to read.
